First saw RB/DB Kenny Wilkins from Bedford High School playing some LB/DB as a true freshman. Believe that he was on the kickoff team, as well. At YSU 7on7 competition, I watched him play some DB. He will be a senior this fall.
Have always like his toughness and his ability to close fast. Excellent burst to finish a tackle. Guessin 6’1-215. Also like him at running back. He has some shake on offense. North/south runner. Breaks tackles.
Last spring he ran a leg on both the 4X100m and 4X200m relay teams. Believe that the 4X200 team made it to the State Track Meet. Not for sure, however.
Last year, during the season he ran into some academic problems and missed too many games. After talking with him, he told me that he has a 2.7GPA now. Working with a tutor to get his ACT score higher.
Most schools are making sure his academics are good, before “pulling the trigger.” Does have some high profile BCS schools watching his progress.
Plays with a lot of emotion. Gets excited about playing against different colored shirts. For me, at times he shows too much enthusiasm, but I like him.
May be able to grow into an OLB. If he continues to improve change of direction, could be an inside DB.
Kenny has been a favorite of mine since his 9th grade year. Liked his toughness and still do. If he can take care of business in the ACT, he should be a top BCS commit for starters.
Looking forward to seeing Kenny Wilkins and the rest of the Bedford football team this fall. Giovanni Holmes is a sophomore DB/WR who I am looking forward to watching.
