Congrats to Avon’s Jimmy McKenna who just recently committed to Purdue University. The long, lean 6’5-255 (listed ) offensive tackle will play some place on the offensive line.
Runs well. Good feet. Good balance. Blocks on 2nd level. Can lead and also block in space.
As I watched him in the OL/DL one on ones at Ohio State’s camp, he passed blocked well. Stayed with his blocks. Have not seen him “smash-mouth” run block. Purdue emphasizes the pass protection, but he will have to get better at run blocking.
Most college coaches agree with me that he is a work in progress, but with a bright upside. A high ceiling. Needs to get bigger/stronger, but will. Needs to improve bending and can.
Another positive with the Purdue decision will be that Jimmy will be working with one of the better young OL college coaches in Cleveland native, Dale Williams. I have tremendous respect for him and his ability to teach/motivate.
Some schools do not believe in developing players. They simply do not want to make the time. Purdue will make the time.
Jimmy will be one of those offensive linemen who have the long, lean frame, but will add good weight and strength. He is athletic and can run. Want to see him in three years.
Jimmy McKenna has the potential a top offensive lineman at Purdue.
